MiStage is a nonprofit theatre organization creating original, participant-driven performance work and expanding access to arts education across Michigan.

We believe that people shouldn’t just experience theatre—they should shape it. Our programs center creative ownership, collaboration, and storytelling, providing spaces where participants develop and perform original work under the guidance of professional teaching artists.

Through initiatives such as Playlab, the Playlab Performance Ensemble (PPE), Talkin’ Broadway, seasonal camps, and school and community-based residencies, MiStage builds consistent opportunities for individuals to engage with theatre as creators.

Our work spans youth and adult programming, with a strong emphasis on developing creative voice, fostering collaboration, and building community through the arts.

MiStage has been featured by WDIV Local 4, Channel 7, Channel 2, and The Metro, and has been recognized by Michigan Humanities (Champion of the Year, 2023) and Oakland County (40 Under 40, 2024).

We are committed to building accessible, sustainable arts programming that empowers people to create, connect, and contribute.
