Doug Coatney

Doug Coatney is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in storage solutions and software development. Currently serving as an Associate Technical Fellow at Microchip Technology Inc. since July 2023, Doug previously held the position of Technical Director in the RAID Data Management Group at NetApp from February 2018 to April 2023, where major achievements included optimizing commodity flash design to significantly reduce costs and leading the migration of ONTAP™ storage subsystems to Linux. Doug's career at NetApp also spanned over 17 years in various technical leadership roles, where significant contributions included the creation of innovative storage solutions. Prior experience includes a role as Senior Storage Software Architect at RStor, delivering critical blockchain-based storage technology, and over a decade at Hewlett-Packard in various engineering management positions. Doug holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and previously studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Texas A&M University.
