Eric Rees

Chief Technology Officer at MicroGenDX

Eric Rees has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Eric is currently working as the Chief Technology Officer at MicroGenDX since October 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Texas Tech University where they held multiple positions including Instructor in the Computer Science Department, Assistant Managing Director, and Research Associate at the High Performance Computing Center. From 2009 to 2016, Eric worked at RTLGenomics as the Director of Bioinformatics, leading the management of projects and providing customer support. Eric also worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist, conducting research in distributed computing techniques and algorithms. Before that, they had roles at Texas Tech University as a Graduate Part Time Instructor, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Graduate Research Assistant. Early in their career, they also had a research internship at NASA Ames Research Center with Mission Critical Technologies.

Eric Rees earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Angelo State University, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Following their undergraduate studies, Eric pursued further education and obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Texas Tech University. Eric completed their doctoral program at Texas Tech from 2005 to 2011.

The American Medical Association (AMA) and Medicare have issued a billing code to MicroGenDX to provide this testing service, recognizing this technology as medically necessary.
