Derek Smith

Derek Smith is a Senior Dry Etch Equipment Development Engineer at Micron Technology, where they focus on advancing dry etch equipment. They hold a Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University, specializing in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. Prior to their career at Micron, they gained diverse experience through roles in organic chemistry research, mechanical engineering internships at Hewlett-Packard, and teaching swimming across various skill levels. Additionally, Derek has engaged in international experiences, including research in Norway and studies in Spain. As a retired two-sport NCAA athlete, Derek enjoys outdoor activities and traveling.
