Mark Liu

Director at Micron Technology

Mark Liu is the founder and chairman of J&M Copper Beech Ventures, a multi-strategy investment fund. Over a three-decade career with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Mr. Liu held operations leadership positions of increasing importance, rising to become executive chairman. Under his leadership, TSMC became the world’s largest and most advanced semiconductor foundry.

Joining TSMC in 1993, Mr. Liu held various leadership positions, including president and co-CEO, and was instrumental in expanding the company’s manufacturing capabilities by establishing its first 8-inch fab in 1995 and first 12-inch fab in 2001. Prior to TSMC, he worked at AT&T Bell Laboratory as a principal investigator in high-speed optical fiber communication technologies and at Intel Corporation, contributing to Intel’s first 32-bit microprocessor technology.

He currently serves as a board member of the Science and Technology in Society Forum. His other board commitments include the University of California, Berkeley Engineering Advisory Board. Mr. Liu holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University and master’s degree and Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from UC Berkeley.
