Emily Lawton

Emily Lawton is a Principal Applied Scientist at Microsoft, focusing on Responsible AI, particularly in relation to large-scale language models within Substrate Intelligence Sciences. They previously held roles as a Software Engineer II and Applied Scientist II at Microsoft, as well as Research Assistant and CS1 Teaching Fellow at Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Harvard University, where they also engaged in machine learning research. Prior to their time at Microsoft, they gained experience through internships, including designing applications for Windows Phone and contributing to SQL Server development.
