Karen Lavi

Karen Lavi is currently a Principal Data Science Manager at Microsoft, where they lead a team focused on developing protection logic to differentiate between malware and benign files using advanced modeling techniques. Previously, they held various data science roles at Microsoft, where they contributed significantly to the field. Karen has a diverse background including roles as a Lead Data Scientist in the Data Science for Social Good fellowship at the University of Washington, and as a Data Scientist at both the University of California, San Francisco, and Prize4Life, Inc. Their earlier experiences include significant cybersecurity roles at Hacktics Ltd. and Isracard, as well as a comprehensive background in computational neuroscience during their PhD at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research.
