Nguyen Bach is currently a Principal Engineer at Microsoft GenAI, where they focus on building models, tools, and data, and have successfully coordinated small language model training across various teams. They previously held a role in the Office of the CTO at Microsoft, where they contributed to large-scale model training and collaborated with OpenAI to develop industry-leading AI models integrated into Microsoft products. With 20 years in the software industry, Nguyen has expertise in NLP, machine translation, and AI, holding a PhD in Language Technology from Carnegie Mellon University. Their earlier experiences include impactful roles at companies such as Textio, IBM, Alibaba Group, and SDL plc, where they advanced predictive engines and translation systems.
