Jon McAlister has extensive work experience in the tech industry. Jon currently serves as the CTO & Co-Founder of Midday Tech, a public-benefit startup focused on climate software. Prior to this, Jon spent eight years at Quip, where they played a crucial role as the first employee. During their time at Quip, they worked on various aspects of the backend stack, database stack, security, and developer environment. Jon also took on miscellaneous projects and contributed to the company's acquisition by Salesforce in 2016. Before joining Quip, Jon worked at Google for eight years as a Senior Staff Software Engineer. Jon was involved in the conversion of Google News from a perl script to a reliable infrastructure running on Google tech. Jon's expertise extended to areas such as dynamic clustering, serving, search, workflow, and classification. Their notable project at Google News was algorithmically ranking news organizations.
Jon McAlister earned their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. Jon attended Stanford University from 1999 to 2003.
