Clay Piper

Clay Piper, PMP is an experienced project manager and resource manager. Clay started their career as a Mechanical Engineer - Intern at Woodward, Inc. in 2005, where they worked with a team to create heavy fabrications and operated shop equipment. In 2006, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer - Intern at Constellation, where they focused on R&D of a pulverized limestone injection system for a fluidized bed waste coal fired boiler.

Clay then joined ATSI, Inc. in 2007, working initially as an Associate Engineer and later as a Project Engineer. Clay participated in the detailed design and installation of projects related to Ironmaking Blast Furnaces and material handling systems.

In 2011, Clay joined Middough as a Project Manager. Clay managed various projects until 2013 when they left to join DMM Technical Services, LLC. At DMM, they served as a Sr. Project Engineer & Partner, overseeing engineering and construction efforts for CAPEX and maintenance projects in steelmaking facilities. Clay also managed the business operations and sales functions.

Clay returned to Middough in 2019, this time as a Director & Senior Project Manager. In this role, they served as a portfolio manager and client account manager, responsible for the development and execution of a portfolio of projects. Clay managed project profitability, quality, safety, client satisfaction, and resource allocation. In 2020, they became a Director & Senior Major Projects Manager, and in 2023, they took on the role of Director & Senior Resource Manager. In addition to project management, they supported proposal efforts, provided training on quality management systems, and guided project managers and team members.

Clay Piper, PMP, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Grove City College, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. In 2011 and 2012, Clay took specialized courses related to their field. Clay completed the 6th Cokemaking Course and the 22nd Blast Furnace Ironmaking Course at McMaster University. Additionally, in May 2013, Clay obtained the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.
