Mind and Matter is a people-first NGO working at the intersection of mental health and education. Founded in July 2020, Mind and Matter builds psycho-socio-emotionally equipped volunteers from all walks of life, who in turn strengthen children, institutions, and communities.
Volunteers are trained from the Department of Psychiatric Social Work, NIMHANS, in psycho-socio-emotional competencies, empathy, and facilitation. Mental well-being sessions are delivered in vernacular languages, making mental health accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.
In mental health, Mind and Matter takes a promotion-prevention approach, building resilience before crisis hits.

Mental Well-being Sessions aligned with WHO's 10 Core Life Skills
MHAC, six-day resilience-building programmes in schools and colleges
Music for Mental Health, a Pan-India movement across 16 cities
Here to Hear, safe non-judgmental listening circles
Sundays for Mental Health, weekly community well-being gatherings

In education, Mind and Matter works closely with children at risk and children in conflict with the law.
