Patrick Tunney, PhD

Research Scientist at Mind Foundry

Dr. Patrick Tunney has a wealth of work experience in the field of research. Starting in 2013, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Imperial College London. In 2018, they moved to RWTH Aachen University where they held the role of Postdoctoral Researcher. During this role, they developed a Python program to rapidly perform Hypothesis tests and calculate confidence intervals from LHC data, for different new physics models. This code incorporated binned data from multiple sources that have varying numbers of degrees of freedom, leading to a successful publication in a peer-reviewed, international journal. Currently, they are a Research Scientist at Mind Foundry.

Patrick Tunney, PhD has a comprehensive education history. Patrick obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physics with Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London between 2011 and 2014. Patrick then went on to pursue a Master of Advanced Study (M.A.St.) in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge between 2014 and 2015. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology from King's College London between 2015 and 2018. In addition to their academic qualifications, Patrick has obtained three certifications from Coursera in 2020, including "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization", "Structuring Machine Learning Projects", and "Neural Networks and Deep Learning".
