Doug Burrell has diverse work experience in the field of embedded software development and hardware designing. Doug started their career at Research In Motion (now BlackBerry) in 2000 as a Hardware Engineering Technologist, responsible for prototyping and testing various electrical and mechanical systems. Doug also designed Bluetooth accessories and created firmware for a combination keyboard used in BlackBerry models.

Doug later transitioned to the role of Test Engineering Specialist at Research In Motion, where they designed and maintained test systems and gained expertise in schematic and circuit board design processes. Doug then became a Power Verification Specialist, specializing in power systems design and completing ISO required design and verification documentation for each project.

After their time at Research In Motion, Doug joined NCR Corporation as an Embedded Software Developer, where they developed firmware for media handling equipment and fixed bugs found during testing.

In 2016, Doug joined Miovision as an Embedded Software Developer. Doug contributed to the development of software for the Scout Video Traffic data collection camera and the Connected Adapter IoT device. Doug also architected the communications API between the two devices and developed ARM microcontroller software for multiple projects, including designing custom bootloaders for firmware upgrades.

In 2019, Doug worked as a Contract Software Developer, developing Python drivers for Raspberry Pi peripherals.
