Misgana African Art is a Brooklyn-based gallery and advisory presenting traditional African art as what it has always been: works of design, innovation, and spiritual intelligence. Founded by Seble Makonnen Asfaw in 2019 and relaunched as a gallery in 2024, Misgana bridges two worlds, offering museum-caliber historical works alongside a collection of functional objects, seating, textiles, and vessels for design-conscious collectors.
Misgana was honored with the Salon Introduction booth and the Emerging Talent award at Salon Art + Design 2025, featured in Forbes, and exhibits at Design Miami. The gallery works closely with interior designers, private collectors, and institutions, providing sourcing, provenance research, and collection advisory.
Historical works are available by inquiry. Trade program available for interior designers.
