Alan Urban

Alan Urban is a seasoned Power Systems Engineer with extensive experience in utility electrical engineering, focusing on power system modeling in high distributed energy resource (DER) penetration scenarios. Currently, as a Senior Engineer at the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), Alan is involved in generator interconnections for the Bulk Electric System. Previously, Alan held significant roles at Xcel Energy, where responsibilities included developing technical policy for DER technologies and serving as the lead technical representative at the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. Alan has also contributed to industry standards through participation in working groups, including IEEE 1547 and NERC SPIDERWG, and has a strong educational background with a Bachelor's degree from Purdue University and ongoing master's studies at the University of St. Thomas.
