Each year, since 1956, Wantagh has crowned a sophomore, junior, or senior high school student as Miss Wantagh. Miss Wantagh is decided upon through a pageant based on community service and involvement. Following her crowning, Miss Wantagh (and her court of fellow pageant participants) serves as a teen representative with a desire to better her community and be a voice of her peers, while meeting officials from various levels of government.

High school rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors that are residents of Wantagh can apply beginning in April.
