The Mississippi River Delta Transition Initiative advances the best available science to forecast the future of the Mississippi River’s Birdsfoot Delta, funded through the National Academy of Science's Gulf Research Program. 

We seek to better understand the region’s evolving landscape, socioeconomic dynamics as well as the human impacts of environmental change. Through cutting-edge research and collaborative partnerships with communities, industry and government, we strive to identify critical challenges, explore future scenarios and provide actionable solutions.

We are also committed to fostering a broader and stronger coastal research community in the northern Gulf Coast by creating more opportunities for under-represented groups to contribute and lead in this critical field.
