Dr Ibrahima Cissé

Regional Director Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Hub Western and Northern Africa

Dr. Ibrahima Cissé, PhD, serves as the Regional Director for the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team's Hub in Western and Northern Africa, where they lead efforts to enhance open mapping initiatives across 25 countries. With over 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and consulting particularly in food safety and fisheries management, they have made significant contributions to environmental advocacy, including leading the Greenpeace Ocean Campaign in Africa from 2016 to 2021. Ibrahima holds a summa cum laude PhD in Food Science from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and two Master of Sciences degrees in Food Science and Aquatic Bio-resources Management. Additionally, they are fluent in multiple languages, including Wolof, French, Spanish, English, and Russian.
