Chris Bourg

Director of Libraries at MIT

Chris Bourg is the Director of Libraries at MIT. Chris has worked in the library field for over 20 years. Chris began their career at Stanford University, where they worked their way up from Head of Information Center to Associate University Librarian for Public Services. In 2009, they left Stanford to join the library consulting firm K|N Consultants, where they served as a board member for two years. In 2011, they returned to MIT as the Director of Libraries.

Chris Bourg received a BA in Sociology from Duke University, an MA in Sociology from the University of Maryland, and a PhD in Sociology from Stanford University.

They are on a team with Philip S. Khoury - Associate Provost, Anantha P. Chandrakasan - Dean, School of Engineering, and Agustín Rayo - Dean, School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. Chris Bourg reports to Martin Schmidt, Provost.
