Nils Karn

Nils Karn has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Nils is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Mitigant since June 2021. Prior to their current role, Nils worked as a Lecturer and later as a Project Employee at the University of Cologne - Institute of General Didactic, Instructional Design and School Research starting from October 2011. In 2020, they joined IServ GmbH as an IT Trainer and Consultant until January 2022. Before that, they worked as a Project Coordinator for PEELX at Potsdam Transfer from May 2019 to October 2020. Nils also has experience as a Project Support at IServ GmbH and as a Project Lead for Schoolcloud at MINT-EC in 2018. In 2016, they worked as a Research Associate at the Hasso Plattner Institute, and prior to that, they held various positions including Project Manager/Design Thinker at Humboldt University Berlin and Berlin School of Mind and Brain through freelancing. Additionally, Nils worked as a Coach and Consultant for Design Thinking projects at Apiarista Consulting and as a part-time employee at Derdack GmbH until January 2016. Nils also served as a Research Fellow in Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute from November 2014 to September 2015 and as an External IT Consultant at Exzellenzcluster »Bild Wissen Gestaltung« Humbold University from March 2014 to October 2014.

Nils Karn completed their education at two institutions. From 2003 to 2009, they studied at Leipzig University, where they obtained a Magister Artium degree in Adult Education, Psychology, and Business Studies. In 2014 and 2015, they attended the School of Design Thinking at the Hasso-Plattner-Institut (HPI) at the University of Potsdam, earning an advanced degree in Design Thinking. Additionally, Nils Karn obtained additional certifications, including Design Thinking Advanced from HPI School of Design Thinking in July 2015 and CERTQUA Quality Management Consultant from CERTQUA Bonn, Germany in February 2007.
