James Spies

James Spies has extensive experience in leadership and strategic development in both military and civilian sectors. As a Department Manager and Concept & Strategy Developer at MITRE since July 2019, James has applied insights gained from prior roles, including Chief at USAOST and Branch Chief for RS&T - Force Structure at the United States Army Special Operations Command. Additional military experience includes key positions as Personnel Systems Staff Officer in the US Army, Company Commander in the Army Special Forces, and OPSDET Commander for the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). James also served as the Irregular Warfare Course Director at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Academically, James holds a Master of Arts in Political Science and Government from George Mason University, a Master of Science in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Emory University, along with military education from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
