Matt Willis

Lead Satellite Communications Engineer at MITRE

Matt Willis is currently serving as the Lead Satellite Communications Engineer at MITRE since January 2022. Prior to this role, Matt held various positions at MIT Lincoln Laboratory from 2004 to February 2022, including Operations Software Lead for the NASA LEMNOS Mission, where operations software interfaces were designed for optical communications terminals on the ISS and Artemis II. Additional roles included Optical Ground Station Control Software Engineer for the NASA LCRD Mission, High-Speed Relay Switch Ground Control Lead, and Ground Receiver Integration Lead for the Lunar Laser Communications Demonstration. Matt’s early work involved electro-optic device characterization for the Mars Lasercom Demonstration. Matt holds a Master's degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Boston University College of Engineering and a BA in Physics and Mathematics from Amherst College.
