Lead Operations Research Analyst at MITRE

Matthew Powers, Ph.D., is an accomplished Operations Research Analyst with extensive experience in military operations and education. Currently serving as the Lead Operations Research Analyst at MITRE since June 2021, Powers previously held the role of VP, Education and Professional Development at MORS and worked at OPNAV N81 as an Operations Research Analyst. Earlier positions include serving as the Operations Research and Lead Military Analyst for the Joint Lessons Learned Division and as a Strategic Operations Research Analyst at the Joint Center for International Security Force Assistance. Powers is also a co-developer of The Peace Game, designed to analyze the complexities of modern conflict. An alumnus of George Mason University, Powers earned a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering and Operations Research and has published works in the field, including a lead article in the 2012 Winter Simulation Conference proceedings. Additionally, Powers holds a master's degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and a bachelor's degree in English from the United States Naval Academy.
