Senior Microfabrication Process Engineer

Michelle Wurch, Ph.D., is a Senior Microfabrication Process Engineer at MKS Instruments since April 2022, specializing in the research, development, and fabrication of novel anti-reflective nano-textured surfaces. Prior to this role, Michelle served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Riverside, focusing on surface acoustic wave devices and the fabrication of transistor devices on 2D-transition metal dichalcogenide thin films. Additionally, Michelle has held research affiliate positions at Berkeley Lab and the University of Augsburg, where work involved the design of TMD-embedded waveguides and the study of novel semiconducting materials, respectively. Michelle's earlier contributions include fabricating patterned silicon substrates at Semiconductor Research Corporation and conducting undergraduate research in various capacities at the University of California, Riverside, culminating in a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the same institution.
