Red Byer

Red Byer is an accomplished engineering executive with extensive experience in automation and operations management. Currently serving as the Director of Automation Engineering at MKS Instruments since October 2022, Red previously held key positions at IPG Photonics Silicon Valley Technology Center as Director of Operations and Principal Mechanical Engineer, where leadership resulted in boosted employee retention and production yields across multiple facilities. As a Co-Founder and COO of Mobius Photonics, Red drove strategic planning and product development, achieving significantly faster design cycles compared to industry standards. Red's earlier roles include a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer at Novawave Technologies and Lightwave Electronics, contributing to product design and stability. Red holds an MBA from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School and a BS/BA in Product Design and Psychology from Stanford University.
