Melanie Bevan, Ed.D., has served as the Chief of Police for the Bradenton Police Department since February 2016 and has been a Consultant and Advisory Board Member for the Institute for Intergovernmental Research since 2014. Additionally, Melanie Bevan has held the position of Adjunct Professor at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, since 2014, and has also contributed as an Adjunct Professor at both the University of South Florida and Barry University from 2010 to 2016 and 2012 to 2015, respectively. With a background in Major League Baseball as an Authenticator since 2008, Melanie Bevan previously served as the Assistant Chief of Police for the St. Petersburg Police Department from 1986 to 2016. Educational achievements include a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University Sarasota, a Master of Public Administration from Troy University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University.
