Kurt Bollacker is currently the Director of Engineering at MLCommons since February 2023. Previously, Kurt held positions at companies such as The Long Now Foundation, Stitch Fix, Metaweb Technologies, Inc., and Applied Minds. Kurt's work at Metaweb involved exploring graph databases and UI/UX to prototype applications with large, heterogeneous data, eventually leading to the spin-off of Metaweb. Before that, Kurt worked as the Technical Director at Internet Archive, where Kurt oversaw the migration of tape holdings to disk and built the first prototype of the Wayback Machine. Kurt holds a PhD from The University of Texas at Austin.
