Jemar Smith currently serves as a graduation coach for Black students at the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, a position held since September 2023. Additionally, Jemar functions as a supportive counsellor at Cant Stop Performance & Rehab and has been a Toronto Raptors basketball instructor with MLSE since June 2013. Previous roles include youth coordinator at StepStones for Youth and intake and housing specialist at Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP). With a background as a teacher assistant at Peel District School Board, and past involvement as a Jordan Brand ambassador during NBA All-Star Weekend, Jemar has extensive experience working with youth through organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. Jemar holds a degree in Social Work from Ryerson University, completed in April 2023, and has further education from Wilfrid Laurier University and Sheridan College.
