As the leader of Mobileye’s Sensing Algorithms team, Tomer Baba spearheads the development of computer vision for all of Mobileye’s advanced driver assistance (ADAS) and autonomous driving systems. His team is responsible for all of the vision algorithms used in both types of applications. Baba has been instrumental in the research and development of several of Mobileye’s leading technologies, including pedestrian detection, automated emergency braking, and camera-based sensing for autonomous vehicles. He is responsible for the first-ever camera-based capability of braking on a pedestrian target, for which he holds multiple patents and for which there is still no better-known system in the market.
Before he joined Mobileye, Baba worked as an algorithm engineer in wafer inspection at a small startup. He holds a bachelor of science in computer engineering and a master’s degree in computer science, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Baba takes great pride in his work and the company’s mission to save lives.
When not trying to solve big technical problems, he enjoys time with his wife and two young children, playing on a Mobileye soccer team, and watching basketball.
