Charles Gao

Charles Gao has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Charles started their career as a Student Worker at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies in 2011. After that, they worked at Goon Studios as a Neophyte Bit Jockey, where they developed a game launcher client application using C#.

In 2012, Gao joined Innovative Leisure as a Game Programmer, where they worked on developing a turn-based strategy game for iOS and Android using Unity3D and C#. Charles integrated animations using Unity's legacy animation system and implemented various interactive UI elements utilizing EZGUI.

Following this, Gao joined Twistory Entertainment Studios as a Unity Programmer. Here, they focused on front-end development of mobile titles using C# in Unity3D. Charles also integrated improvements to the team project to streamline the development process and developed reusable systems for the engineering team.

In 2015, Gao became a Senior Software Engineer at Glu Mobile. Charles utilized C# to build and maintain front-end systems designed for cross-platform deployment. Charles also played a crucial role in architecting new features to be more manageable and reusable for future work, as well as maintaining and updating legacy features to improve manageability and robustness.

In 2017, Gao worked at Carbonated Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer for a short period before joining MobilityWare. At MobilityWare, they initially served as a Senior Software Engineer and later advanced to the role of Engineering Manager in December 2019.

Throughout their career, Gao has demonstrated their expertise in various programming languages and technologies, such as C#, Unity3D, and cross-platform deployment.

Charles Gao obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology, Information and Computer Sciences from UC Irvine, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Subsequently, they pursued their Masters degree in Computer Science Game Development at the University of Southern California from 2010 to 2012.
