Nancy Tonkins is a dedicated community volunteer with extensive experience in various non-profit organizations, including Pawsperity and the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). Nancy has served in multiple volunteer roles since 2016 at the Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis and at Sherwood Forest Camp, demonstrating a commitment to service and advocacy. Additionally, Nancy has held significant positions on the Board of Directors at the Wildlife Rescue Center and as a marketing and audience development leader at Metro Theater Company. With a solid foundation in management and advertising from roles at Expo Design Center, The National System, Inc., and Bradburn School Supply, Nancy combines leadership skills with a strong background in art and education, having earned degrees from William Woods University and Westminster College.
Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA)
MOCSA’s mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault and to prevent sexual violence in our community. Together we can create a community free from sexual assault and abuse. Our services are free of charge and available to survivors and their families in the Kansas City metropolitan area. We offer the following services: - 24-hour Crisis Services: 816-531-0233 & 913-642-0233 - Advocacy: hospital, legal, police, and court advocacy; support groups - Counseling: individual and group therapy - Education: age-appropriate programs for children in elementary, middle, and high schools; training for advocates, counselors, law enforcement, restaurant and bar staff, and other professionals - Prevention: supporting community based coalitions in both Missouri and Kansas to prevent sexual assault and other forms of violence
