Erik Bernhardsson

Erik Bernhardsson is the CEO of Modal Labs since January 2021, where the focus is on developing innovative tools and infrastructure for data teams across locations in New York City, San Francisco, and Stockholm. Previously, Erik served as the Chief Technology Officer at Better.com from February 2015 to January 2021, successfully expanding the technology team, enhancing recruitment processes, and contributing significantly to technology development, particularly in data and machine learning. Prior to Better.com, Erik was an Engineering Manager at Spotify from September 2008 to February 2015, building the Discovery and Analytics teams, and creating a music recommender system. Earlier experience includes a role as an Associate in High Frequency Trading at Graham Capital Management and an internship as a Software Engineer at Spotify, where Erik's master's thesis on automatic music recommendation was awarded Master's Thesis of the Year. Erik holds a Master of Science degree in Physics from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and has also studied at Technische Universität Berlin.
