Tee Theng Tan has had a diverse range of work experiences spanning various roles and industries. Tee Theng started their career in 1999 as a Software Engineer at Gram Media Inc. and later worked as a Web Developer at Savvio Inc. In 2001, Tee Theng became an R&D Manager at Ednovation Pte Ltd. Following that, from 2005 to 2010, they held the position of R&D Manager at Sentryi Pte Ltd, where they led the development efforts and successfully pivoted the product to target tier-1 insurance companies. This success led to the acquisition of Sentryi by Iress. Afterward, Tee Theng joined Iress as a Product Manager and led the redesign of Sentryi's software to integrate into Iress's platform. Tee Theng then founded their own company, Cellsist, in 2012, where they bootstrapped and launched an MVP within 6 months and grew the business to manage 20% of Petronas' oil fields. Most recently, Tee Theng joined MODEC in 2021 and has been responsible for leading the development of software products to drive digital transformation within the organization. Tee Theng established and oversees a high-performing team of 20+ members, including Product Owners, Developers, and UI/UX professionals.
Tee Theng Tan earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, where they studied from 1997 to 1999. Tee Theng also completed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams, from Level I to III, in June 2006. In addition, Tee Theng Tan received an individual honorable mention in the Malaysian Mathematical Olympiad while attending Chung Ling High School in Penang, Malaysia.
