Donovan Sanchez, CFP®

Donovan Sanchez, CFP® has a diverse work experience that spans across various roles and industries. Donovan is currently the President of FPA of Illinois, where they have been serving since January 2023. Prior to this role, they worked at FPA of Illinois as the Director of Education from January 2021 to December 2022, and also held the position of Co-Director of Pro Bono and Conference for Advanced Planning Committee Member in 2020.

In 2023, Donovan joined Model Wealth Inc. as a Senior Financial Planner. Donovan is responsible for providing financial planning expertise and guidance to clients.

Donovan has also worked as a Financial Planning Instructor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign since August 2021.

Before that, they founded and owned SKYVIEW FINANCIAL PLANNING, LLC from November 2018 to March 2023, where they gained experience managing their own financial planning business.

Donovan began their career as a Financial Advisor at Savant Wealth Management in January 2018, before transitioning to Northwestern Mutual as a Financial Advisor and later a Financial Representative in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

In addition to their financial planning roles, Donovan also worked as an Education Quality Partner at FranklinCovey from 2015 to 2016, and as a Pre-AP English II Teacher at Sunset High School from 2013 to 2015.

Donovan Sanchez, CFP®, began their education journey in 2005 at Brigham Young University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English/Language Arts Teacher Education. Donovan successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2013.

In 2019, Donovan pursued further education at Golden Gate University, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Advanced Financial Planning. Their studies at Golden Gate University concluded in 2020.

Currently, Donovan is engaged in doctoral studies at Kansas State University. Donovan is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Personal Financial Planning. Their doctoral program started in 2023 and is expected to be completed by 2027.
