Clyde W.

Pilot Plant Engineer at Modern Electron

Clyde W. began their career in 2003 as a Process Engineer for Brown and Caldwell. In this role, they were the technical lead for a multiple firm effort to mitigate rouge emissions, corrosion, and sulfide generation in a collection system serving over 1.4 million users. Clyde also identified and rectified design flaws in vendor provided equipment being installed as part of a $1.2 billion project. In 2006, Clyde moved to HDR as a Process Engineer, where they were a subject matter expert in HVAC and air pollution control. Clyde was the technical lead for a countywide improvement project to mitigate rouge emissions, corrosion, and sulfide generation in a collection system serving over 1.4 million users.

In 2008, Clyde returned to Brown and Caldwell as a Process Engineer. Clyde was a subject matter expert in HVAC, air pollution control, and chemical enhanced primary treatment system. Clyde designed wastewater conveyance and collection systems with capacities up to 450,000,000 gpd serving over 2 million people and designed over 30 chemical storage, containment, metering, and injection facilities with storage capacities up to 60,000 gallons. In 2011, they moved to Enduro Composites as Technical Director/Process Engineer. In this role, they designed and developed custom turnkey chemical scrubbers, bioscrubbers, and adsorption systems for emission control, managed budgets, deliverables schedule, and coordinated product production for domestic and global distribution, and managed a team of 10 employees focused on the design, manufacture, shipping, and installation of air pollution control equipment.

In 2012, Clyde joined Holloman Engineering, LLC as a Senior Process Engineer. Clyde provided process-mechanical designs for over 50 natural gas gathering, compression, treatment, condensate stabilization, and NGL recovery projects with capacities up to 2,000 MMSCFD and slugging capacities of 1,000,000 bpd. Clyde also prepared conceptual designs and FEED Studies to establish design criteria and process requirements based on client specifications and plant inlet properties and compositions, and prepared Heat & Material Balances using Aspen Hysys or ProMax. In 2020, they moved to Burrow Global, LLC as a Senior Process Engineer. In this role, they identified runaway reactions, evaluated reaction kinetics, and determined conditions which could lead to over-pressurization in catalytic reaction units. Clyde also modeled distillation column and reactors under upset conditions in Aspen Hysys to determine if mass or heat imbalances existed at relieving conditions, and evaluated existing pressure relief devices and piping for compliance with API 520, API 521, API 526, and ASME Section VIII guidelines.

In 2021, Clyde joined Utility Global as a Senior Process Engineer and The Lisbon Group, LLC as a Senior Process Engineer. At Utility Global, they worked closely with international technology team to develop a safe, robust, reliable, and affordable onsite skid-mounted hydrogen production process. Clyde prepared heat and material balances in ProMax for the catalytic oxidation (CPOX) and solid oxide electrolysis for conversion of air, steam, and natural gas to carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas at elevated temperatures, and developed piping specifications and design criteria for low pressure (< 5 psig) and high temperature (2000 F) skid mounted process train. At The Lisbon Group, LLC, they developed specifications for AGRUs, MS dehydration, engine-driven gen sets, and liquefaction systems, prepared technical documentation for LNG facilities, and performed engineering calculations including: pipeline hydraulics, line sizing, equipment sizing, over-pressure calculations, and control valve sizing.

Most recently,

Clyde W. attended Washington State University from 1997 to 2002 and obtained two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Chemical Engineering and one in Economics.
