Alan Embry is an experienced professional in the field of infectious diseases, currently serving as the Executive Director and Program Lead at Moderna since November 2024. Previously, Alan held various prominent positions at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) from 2008 to 2013, including Biologist/Program Officer and Chief of the Respiratory Diseases Branch. Alan also served as a Senior Advisor for Pandemic Preparedness and Deputy Director in the Division of AIDS. Before joining Moderna, Alan was a Senior Director overseeing clinical development and program leadership in infectious diseases. Additionally, Alan has experience as a Health Scientist Administrator at Kelly and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Laboratory of Viral Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. Alan holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Certificate in Biochemistry from Furman University, along with a PhD in Biochemistry from Duke University.
