John Ward

John Ward is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in trademark law and brand protection across various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer products. Currently serving as Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Trademarks at Moderna since November 2021, John plays a key role in building a strategic global trademark program. Prior to this, John held leadership positions at Bausch Health Companies Inc. and Alcon, where responsibilities included overseeing trademark initiatives for products benefiting millions globally. John's background also includes significant roles at Novartis, where John managed trademark portfolios and developed drug names, as well as experience as an attorney at Sunstein Kann Murphy & Timbers LLP focusing on international trademark disputes. John began a legal career in the US Navy as a Naval Officer and JAG Corps Attorney. John holds a JD from the University of Illinois College of Law and a Bachelor's degree in Political Economy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
