Tim te Beek has worked as a software engineer for over 13 years. In 2007, they began as an intern at the Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics. Tim then worked as a Developer at the same company in 2009. In 2009, they also began working as a Bioinformatics Research Support at NBIC, where they built bridges between Biology and Bioinformatics. In 2013, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at Bio-Prodict. In 2017, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at JDriven, where they were a consultant with projects in banking, energy & logistics. Tim also started and led an effort to twice yearly publish their own TechRadar, and was a frequent blogger and occasional speaker and workshop host. In 2019, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at alliander, where they used Kafka Streams to collect and distribute Smart Energy Meter readings nationwide. In 2020, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at Royal FloraHolland, where they were responsible for the introduction of Apache Kafka to the Floriday platform. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at Energie Data Services Nederland (EDSN) B.V., where they aided in a complex migration away from EC2, GitHub, Jenkins & Java 11, onto EKS, GitLab CI and Java 17. In 2023, they began working as a Staff Software Engineer at Moderne, Inc.
Tim te Beek completed their high school education at Stedelijk Gymnasium Nijmegen from 1997 to 2003, with a Nature & Sciences profile supplemented with courses in programming, biology, Latin and economy. Tim then attended Radboud University in 2003-2004 for Computer Science before obtaining their Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN) in 2010.
