MODIFY entered the solar energy business after realizing that approximately 60 million Ethiopians lack access to clean energy, making Ethiopia the second largest solar energy product market in Africa behind Nigeria(Africa Clean Energy Technical Assistance Facility, 2021; and Signify Foundation, 2019). Furthermore, the sector is currently in its early stages of development and is one of the key priority areas for the Ethiopian Government.
