Michael Rivers

Michael Rivers, MD, currently serves as the Senior Director of Ophthalmology at ModMed since January 2018, where responsibilities include advising and collaborating with various teams to support the ophthalmology vertical. Previously held roles include Director of Ophthalmology and Director of EMA Ophthalmology at The Pathway Initiative Inc. from May 2021 to January 2023, contributing to efforts aimed at increasing participation of Black and lower-income individuals in medical schools. Michael Rivers also practiced as a retina surgeon and managing partner at The Retina Group of Washington from July 1991 to December 2017 and owned Teal Way Films, a medical video education company, from August 2014 to November 2017. Education includes an AB in Chemistry from Princeton University, an MD from Cornell University, and a fellowship in Retina and Vitreous Surgery from Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
