Ethan Bernstein has a long and varied work experience. Ethan began their career in 2000 as a Summer Associate for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where they drafted shareholder and investor rights agreements and prepared private placement memorandums. In 2001, they worked as a Summer Associate for J.P. Morgan in the Investment Banking division, providing M&A advisory services. In 2002, they were an Associate and Special Assistant to the Directors at the Center for Organizational Fitness, and a Summer Associate for Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where they advised on potential acquisitions and offerings. From 2008 to 2011, they served as the Kauffman Foundation Fellow in Law, Innovation, and Growth at Harvard Law School, and then as Chief Strategy Officer and Deputy Assistant Director, Mortgage Markets at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In 2012, they became a Director Board of Directors and Strategic Advisor and Acting COO at ModuleQ, and in 2013 they were appointed Edward W. Conard Associate Professor of Business Administration (Organizational Behavior Unit) and Assistant Professor of Leadership and Organizational Behavior at Harvard Business School. In 2020, they joined Protocol Labs as a Director Board of Directors.
Ethan Bernstein's education history includes attending Harvard-Westlake School from 1988 to 1994, followed by Amherst College from 1994 to 1998 where they earned an A.B. in Economics. Ethan then attended Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School from 1999 to 2003, earning an MBA in General Management (Section D) and a JD in Law, respectively. In 2004, they obtained a Doctorate in Management from Harvard University, which they attended from 2007 to 2013. Ethan is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
