Travis Turner

Chief Architect at Molecula

Travis has a background in electrical engineering, but his passion for software design and all things data eventually drove him to database architecture.

His first introduction to high-volume data was at Flightlock where he helped manage the ingestion and consumption of data from a real-time FAA feed of all airplanes in US airspace. This flight data was then merged with data retrieved from Travel Reservation System APIs and used to drive real-time applications servicing Fortune 100 companies. When Flightlock was acquired by Control Risks, Travis stayed on to develop data products supporting their software subscription services. Following Control Risks, Travis was Chief Architect of Umbel, a data management platform for sports and entertainment companies. At Umbel, he led the engineering team and built a platform that ingested data from dozens of sources including social media platforms, ticketing services, and proprietary client data feeds. All data collected was processed, stored in highly available data stores, and used to drive real-time queries available by API as well as a web interface.

As Chief Architect of Molecula, he leads the deeply technical engineering efforts to build out our highly ambitious Data Virtualization platform. Travis graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
