Skin cancer is the most common cancer, affecting 1 in 5 people in the US, 1 in 7 Canadians, and two thirds of Australians. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer when detected in an advanced stage. Fortunately, with early detection the survival rate is 98%. Melanoma arises from the pigment-producing cells of the skin, calledmelanocytes, and can appear in moles on the surface of the skin.All moles are guilty until proven innocent, and it is very important to examine your moles regularly to look for warning signs of skin cancer. The MoleScope imaging device and app make skin screening easy by helping you find suspicious moles, track changes, and send dermoscopic images to your doctor - all from the comfort of your home.Developed in Vancouver by a team from Simon Fraser University and University of British Columbia, working with high-level academic researchers, scientists and physicians who focus on the early detection of skin cancer.
