Skin cancer is the most common cancer, affecting 1 in 5 people in the US, 1 in 7 Canadians, and two thirds of Australians. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer when detected in an advanced stage. Fortunately, with early detection the survival rate is 98%. Melanoma arises from the pigment-producing cells of the skin, calledmelanocytes, and can appear in moles on the surface of the skin.All moles are guilty until proven innocent, and it is very important to examine your moles regularly to look for warning signs of skin cancer.
