Monadnock Construction, Inc.

Monadnock was founded in Brooklyn over 40 years ago by Nick Lembo. Nick started the company as a masonry operation with just himself and three employees, but quickly expanded into a large high-rise union mason and eventually into General Contracting, Construction Management, and Real Estate Development. Bringing in long time employee Peter Hansen as a partner in the late 1980’s and then Greg Bauso some years later, the company grew steadily to its current team of over 200 people with anywhere from 15-20 active job sites at any given time. Affordable housing has always been a cornerstone of our work, and we view this work as important and vital to the health of our City. Monadnock has successfully completed more subsidized housing developments than any other company in the City. When brought into a project early we provide a wide range of experience and expertise with this type of work that will contribute to the job successfully meeting schedule and budget targets. Monadnock also has a focus and expertise in High-Performance building systems. The majority of our professionals are trained as Passive House tradespersons, in addition to be LEED certified professionals familiar with all these construction protocols, including Enterprise Green Communities. In 2017, Monadnock completed a high-rise Passive House building in NYC at the Cornell Tech Campus on Roosevelt Island, which at the time was tallest and largest structure in the world to receive the Passive House certification. Our team can provide valuable guidance on construction detailing and cost to the project as decisions are made and plans created by the development team.
