Director Of UX Research at MongoDB

Kellie Rae Carter, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of UX research. Kellie Rae currently holds the position of Director of UX Research at MongoDB, where they have been since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the UX Research Lead at MongoDB from 2021 to 2022.

Before joining MongoDB, Kellie worked at Salesforce from 2014 to 2021. Kellie Rae held various roles, including Principal, UX and Product Research from 2021 to 2021, Lead, User Experience Research from 2016 to 2021, Senior Manager, UX Research from 2015 to 2016, and Manager of UX Research from 2014 to 2015. During their time at Salesforce, they managed teams, conducted research studies, and contributed to product development.

Earlier in their career, Kellie worked as the User Experience Research Lead at ExactTarget from 2012 to 2014, where they led the UX design team. Kellie Rae also gained experience as a Usability Consultant at Nationwide Insurance from 2009 to 2012 and as a Senior User Experience Researcher at Comcast Interactive Media in 2009.

Before transitioning into UX research, Kellie worked as a Senior Usability Engineer at Vanguard from 2007 to 2009, where they conducted usability testing and supported agile teams. Kellie Rae also worked as an Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University from 2005 to 2007, teaching technical communications and conducting research in usability. Prior to that, they served as a Digital Literacy Fellow at Wayne State University from 2003 to 2005.

Kellie's work experience also includes serving as a Medic in the Ohio National Guard from 1990 to 1996 and as a Pershing Missile Crew Member in the US Army from 1987 to 1990.

Kellie Rae Carter, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Bowling Green State University, where they studied from 1990 to 1993. Following that, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Women's Studies at The Ohio State University, completing their studies in 1996. In 1998, Carter enrolled at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they obtained their Master of Science degree in Technical Communication the following year. Continuing their education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Carter successfully completed their studies in 2005, earning their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Rhetoric and Communication.
