Chief Technology Officer (cto) at Monzo

Matej Pfajfar started their career as a Software Engineer at Comtrade in 2001. Matej then joined Adacta in 2002 and held various roles, including Senior Engineer and Project Manager. At Adacta, Matej was responsible for successfully delivering implementations of products for the Financial Services Industry. Matej also played a key role in the development of Adacta's asset & liability management solution and core insurance system. In 2018, Matej joined Google as an Engineering Director and later became a Senior Engineering Director. In February 2023, they transitioned to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Monzo Bank.

Matej Pfajfar has a diverse education background. Matej obtained a GCE degree in Sciences and German from Kent College, Canterbury, UK, between 1997 and 1999. Following that, they pursued a MA degree in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge from 1999 to 2002.

In addition to their formal education, Matej Pfajfar has obtained several certifications. Matej completed the Deep Learning Specialization from Coursera in December 2018. In September 2013, they became a Certified Scrum Master through the Scrum Alliance. Matej also holds certifications as an Emergency First Response Instructor and an Open Water Scuba Instructor, both obtained in May 2011.
