Frontend Analyst Developer at Moodle

Mathew May has a varied work experience that spans several industries. Mathew started their career in 2012 as a Bank Bay Technician at LIC, where they worked in a team responsible for dispatching products to farmers and developing health and safety processes. In 2012, they also worked as a Customer Service Representative at Z Energy Limited, where they focused on retail skills, cash handling, and team-based work.

From 2013 to 2016, Mathew worked part-time as a Customer Service Representative at Repco while pursuing their degree. In this role, they supplied car parts to customers and developed retail and inventory management skills.

In 2015, Mathew began working at LearningWorks®, initially as an intern, where they refined their skills in PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript. As an intern, they contributed to the development of a Moodle theme and various custom aspects. Mathew later became a Contractor E-learning Web Developer, where they researched and implemented development within Vagrant local environments and gained expertise in Moodle LMS, PHP, MySQL, SASS/SCSS, and jQuery. In 2016, they transitioned to the position of E-learning Web Developer, working on projects including the development of bespoke Moodle implementations, plugin maintenance, and learner dashboard blocks.

In 2018, Mathew joined Moodle as a Frontend Analyst Developer, where they continue to contribute to the open-source community and develop front-end solutions.

Mathew's work experience demonstrates their adaptability, diverse skill set, and proficiency in web development, e-learning, and customer service.

Mathew May attended Wintec - Waikato Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2015, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology. In March 2016, Mathew obtained a Bachelor of Information Technology certification from Wintec. Additionally, in June 2015, they obtained a PRINCE2 Foundation Certificate from Wintec.
