Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy currently serves as Global Head of Behavioral Insights at Morningstar, a position held since November 2016, and has previously held roles such as Head of Decision Sciences and Director of Behavioral Science within the same organization. Prior to this, Ryan was a Visiting Professor at the University of Zurich's Department of Economics from June 2015 to December 2017 and worked as Chief Data Scientist at Amana Advisors from January to October 2016. Ryan's academic experience includes a notable tenure as Chair of Decision Theory and Behavioral Game Theory at ETH Zurich from April 2009 to December 2015 and as Associate Director and Research Scientist at Columbia University's Center for the Decision Sciences from July 2005 to August 2009. Ryan's education includes a Post Doctorate in Decision Sciences from Columbia University, a PhD in Management and Organizations with a focus on Behavioral Decision Theory from the University of Arizona, a Master of Science in Experimental Psychology from Western Washington University, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University.
