Nigel Mathes

Nigel Mathes has a strong background in AI and machine learning. Nigel is currently serving as the CTO of AI at MORSE Corp since 2022. In their previous role as the Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Spectrum Labs from 2021 to 2022, Nigel was responsible for architecting and implementing a new data science pipeline for the organization. Nigel worked cross-functionally with all teams to improve efficiency and understanding of AI solutions. Prior to that, Nigel held the position of AI Lead, Data Scientist, and Machine Learning Engineer at MORSE Corp from 2017 to 2021. In this role, they worked on various projects with a team of scientists, engineers, and software developers to design and implement machine learning solutions. Nigel also has experience as a Teaching Assistant at New Mexico State University from 2011 to 2014, where they developed a large high-resolution quasar spectroscopy survey and taught astronomy laboratory sections. Nigel started their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Penn State University from 2008 to 2011, where they reduced and organized raw data from telescopes and implemented K-Means clustering for classifying types of gas structures.

Nigel Mathes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Penn State University, where they attended from 2007 to 2011. Nigel then pursued further education at New Mexico State University, where they obtained a Master's degree in Astronomy from 2014 to 2017. Nigel also completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Astronomy and Astrophysics at New Mexico State University during the same time period.
