Ignacio Luz

Lead Materials Scientist at Mosaic Materials

Ignacio joined the Mosaic team in 2022 as a lead materials scientist. Dr. Luz has around 15 years of experience on developing novel advanced technologies and nanostructured materials based on MOFs, zeolites, colloidal nanocrystals, metal oxides, polymers, and composites to solve technological challenges in energy, health, and environmental applications, including catalysis, electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, energy storage materials, water purification, sensors, drug delivery as well as gas separations and storage. Ignacio received his Ph.D. in Sustainable Chemistry at the Instituto de Tecnologia Quimica (Polytechnical University of Valencia) under the guidance of Professor Avelino Corma engineering MOF for catalytic and energy applications. Previously, Dr. Luz worked 1 year as Principal Scientist in Matrix Sensors Inc. developing MOF-based CO2 sensors for indoor air quality, 5 years as Research Scientist in RTI International developing MOF-based solids sorbents for CO2 capture, and 1 year as Postdoc Researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab designing MOF composites for CO2 electroreduction.
